-
- 6.0.0.1 _L_o_c_a_l_i_z_i_n_g__f_o_n_t_s
-
- +o You can localize current Showcase fonts by editing the
- /_u_s_r/_s_h_a_r_e/_S_h_o_w_c_a_s_e/_s_h_o_w_c_a_s_e_f_o_n_t._m_a_p file. See
- Appendix F of the _S_h_o_w_c_a_s_e _U_s_e_r'_s _G_u_i_d_e for details on
- how to do this.
-
- 6.0.0.2 _A_d_d_i_n_g__c_u_s_t_o_m__t_e_x_t_u_r_e__p_a_l_e_t_t_e_s__t_o__t_h_e__3_D__g_i_z_m_o
-
- +o A texture palette is specified by a file that contains
- a list of up to 25 textures. The filename is the same
- as the palette name, and should be placed in your home
- directory with the ._s_h_o_w_P_a_l_e_t_t_e_s/_t_e_x_t_u_r_e_s directory.
- You might need to create this directory if it does not
- exist.
-
- +o For example, suppose you have two scanned images,
- /_u_s_r/_d_a_t_a/_t_e_x_t_u_r_e_s/_b_u_g_s._r_g_b and
- /_u_s_r/_d_a_t_a/_t_e_x_t_u_r_e_s/_d_a_f_f_y._r_g_b, and you wish to place
- them in a palette called _c_a_r_t_o_o_n_s. To create these
- palettes, type:
-
- ccccdddd ~~~~ mmmmkkkkddddiiiirrrr ....sssshhhhoooowwwwPPPPaaaalllleeeetttttttteeeessss ccccdddd ....sssshhhhoooowwwwPPPPaaaalllleeeetttttttteeeessss mmmmkkkkddddiiiirrrr tttteeeexxxxttttuuuurrrreeeessss ccccdddd tttteeeexxxxttttuuuurrrreeeessss
-
- Edit the file _c_a_r_t_o_o_n_s, and add the following two lines
- to it:
-
- ////uuuussssrrrr////ddddaaaattttaaaa////tttteeeexxxxttttuuuurrrreeeessss////bbbbuuuuggggssss....rrrrggggbbbb ////uuuussssrrrr////ddddaaaattttaaaa////tttteeeexxxxttttuuuurrrreeeessss////ddddaaaaffffffffyyyy....rrrrggggbbbb
-
- Quit and restart Showcase for the changes to take
- effect.
-
- 6.0.0.3 _E_x_p_o_r_t_i_n_g__3_D__m_o_d_e_l_s__w_i_t_h__c_u_s_t_o_m__t_e_x_t_u_r_e_s
-
- +o If you create a Showcase file that uses textures, then
- take that file to another system that does not have
- those textures installed, the textures do not appear.
- For efficiency, the image files should be relatively
- small; in general, make them no bigger than 256x256.
- Use _i_z_o_o_m or _i_m_g_w_o_r_k_s to scale the image.
-
- 6.0.0.4 _R_e_v_e_r_t_i_n_g__t_o__a__d_e_f_a_u_l_t__3_D__m_a_t_e_r_i_a_l__p_a_l_e_t_t_e
-
- +o When you edit a material in a material palette, the
- changes are automatically saved in your home directory.
- If you wish to revert to the system default materials
- for that palette, follow these steps. For this
- example, assume you are trying to restore the _a_r_t_d_e_c_o
- palette.

-
- To remove the modified palette entirely and revert to
- the system default, type:
-
- rrrrmmmm aaaarrrrttttddddeeeeccccoooo
-
- To save the modified palette under a new name (such as
- _n_e_w_a_r_t_d_e_c_o) and revert to the system default (which is
- called _a_r_t_d_e_c_o), type:
-
- mmmmvvvv aaaarrrrttttddddeeeeccccoooo nnnneeeewwwwaaaarrrrttttddddeeeeccccoooo

- Quit and restart Showcase for the changes to take

-
- +o Using the middle mouse button to select objects
- performs a _c_y_c_l_e _s_e_l_e_c_t. If an object at the spot
- clicked is already selected, the object just behind it
- is selected and the current selection is removed. This
- way objects layered on top of each other or very close
- to each other can be easily selected.
-
- +o The arrow keys can be used to move selected objects one
- pixel in the direction of the arrow. Holding down
- shift while using the arrow keys moves objects by 10
- pixels. Note that objects are moved by physical
- pixels. At 100% zoom this is equal to 1 point. At
- 200%, for instance, objects are moved by 1/2 point,
- etc.
-
- +o The combination alt-b is used to toggle the pin
- attribute. This is different than selecting _P_i_n or
- _U_n_p_i_n from the Edit menu. If the selected object is
- pinned it is unpinned, and vice versa. If multiple
- objects are selected, the _M_a_s_t_e_r _O_b_j_e_c_t is toggled and
- all other objects are made to match its new state.
- This is very useful when copying objects between pages.
- Simply type alt-b to pin and alt-c to copy. Then go to
- the new page and type alt-v. The placement of the
- objects will be forced to the same location as the
- original objects.
-
- +o The combination alt-h toggles the rotate handle. This
- is listed on the View menu but it is very useful when
- editing small objects where the rotate handle can
- obscure the other handles so it warrents mention here.

-
-
- +o The combination alt-m toggles the currently selected 3D
- manipulator between the cube (move/scale) and sphere
- (rotate) manipulators.
